George Taylor
(1716-1781), Pennsylvania

George Taylor came to America  almost as a slave under bond and apprenticeship to a Pennsylvania iron merchant who had paid his passage over.  He landed in New York with three English pennies.  In twenty years he was a partner in the business to which he had been apprenticed and afterward acquired full ownership through his marriage to the widow of this former employer.  His life was rich not only in memory but in kindly service.
