Landscaping Improves John Hart’s Memorial

The John Hart Memorial Fund Committee was created after the Society received funds from member Lynda Dressler’s Trust to be used to honor Signer John Hart. The committee is comprised of members who descend from John Hart.

This spring, the committee hired a landscaping company to improve the area surrounding the John Hart Memorial at the Hopewell Baptist Meeting House Cemetery in Hopewell, New Jersey. Rutgers Landscape and Nursery stripped the area of all grass, and a barrier cloth was installed to prevent regrowth. A perimeter of 1″-3″ Delaware River rock was installed as a retainer. The remaining area was filled with 3/4″ river stone, 4-5 inches thick. Greg Munro, a committee member who lives nearby, lead the project.

The committee is also working on a video tour of the Hart Plantation and burial sites and a plaque for the John Hart Barn.
