Connecticut meeting features Declaration painting

Connecticut DSDI members and their  guests met  at the Yale Art  Gallery  on Saturday, May  5,  for a private tour  of the gallery  exhibit  on  Life , Liberty and the Pursuit  of  Happiness.

We were treated to a fascinating explanation of John Trumbull’s   painting of the  signing of the Declaration  of  Independence, which is the  signature piece of the exhibit.  The docent had prepared information about our individual signers.

From the Gallery we walked to Mory’s for a luncheon meeting in the Library Room. Mory’s general manager, Ken Adams, stopped by to give us a short history of Mory’s  and its connection to Yale University. The signers who were represented at the meeting included John Hart, John Morton and Carter Braxton. A mounted poster of the Trumbull painting served as a door prize, won by  the youngest member of the group, Lili Beecher, descendant of John Morton.

New Haven will be the site of the Fall 2013 DSDI meeting.
