Congratulations to the 56 most recent DSDI 2026-2027 Scholarship Recipients!

All awardees were sent an email on July 4^th advising them of their award. If you applied for a Scholarship, please check your email as there are specific instructions to follow. If you are unable to locate the email, please contact the Chair at [email protected].

Each application includes an essay written in response to a writing prompt. Links to some of the winning essays will be added to this page soon.

This year’s writing prompt was:

The Declaration of Independence, as adopted by the Second Continental Congress, contained 32 paragraphs. Many people feel that the meaning and importance of the Declaration have evolved over the past 250 years. What do you think might have been the most important paragraph to its principal author, Thomas Jefferson? Why? Which paragraph or two do you think might have been most important to your Signer and why? Finally, which paragraph is most important to you or your generation and why?
