DSDI Member Honors Signer at East Carolina University

DSDI member Judith Livingston Tucker Newman honored Signer Philip Livingston, her seventh-generation ancestor, on Nov. 3, 2023 in a ceremony at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.

The university provides special tributes to military veterans and to others who have sacrificed or given their lives defending freedom for our country. The event, entitled Memorial Walk Brick Paver Ceremony, took place by the Victory Bell, an 1855 ship’s bell that served on Navy vessels and was acquired by the university.

Judith dedicated a paver engraved with “Philip Livingston, Signer 1776” as well as a paver honoring her husband, Jim Newman, Captain USN.
