239th Anniversary of the Battle of Kings Mountain

DSDI North Carolina Governor Nancy McBride Wark (right) represented the society Oct. 7 at the 239^thAnniversary of the Battle of Kings Mountain, joined by her sister Mary McBride (left) of California. The SAR color guard posted the colors and Mourning-at-Arms was presented by the Overmountain Victory Trail Association.  John Slaughter, Group Superintendent of Southern Campaign of the American Revolution Parks, led the celebration. The keynote address was given by Van Hipp, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Army.
