DSDI participates in 238th anniversary of the Battle of Cowan’s Ford

DSDI North Carolina Governor Nancy McBride Wark represented DSDI on Jan. 26 to support the North Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution recognizing the 238thanniversary of the Battle of Cowan’s Ford.

The event took place at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville. Ken Ingraham, historian for the Alamance Battleground Chapter NCSSAR, shared the history of the Cowan’s Ford event. He was followed by Jeremiah DeGennaro, site manager for Alamance Battleground State Historic Site. DeGennaro presented a program: “Why They Fought: Prelude to Revolution in the North Carolina Backcountry – 1765 to 1771.” After the program, the NCSSAR Combined Color Guard presented the colors.
